Warranty Policy

At Definite Electrical, pride is taken in the quality of work and the products used. This warranty policy is designed to give you peace of mind and ensure you receive the service you expect. Here’s a summary of the warranty policy:

  • Manufacturer’s Warranty: The warranties provided by the manufacturers of the materials supplied and installed are supported. If a product supplied and installed by Definite Electrical fails to meet the standards described in the manufacturer’s warranty, it will be replaced at no cost to you..
  • Workmanship Warranty: The installation work is guaranteed to deliver the promised results, and the work is backed for the lifetime of the installation.
  • Customer Convenience: You don’t need to keep records of your purchase or warranty details—Definite Electrical will take care of that for you.

1. Australian Consumer Law Guarantees

The goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

2. Materials Warranty

Coverage: All materials supplied and installed by Definite Electrical are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. The duration of the warranty is specified by the manufacturer. Materials supplied by others but installed by Definite Electrical are not covered by this warranty.

Example: A new lighting fitting is installed by Definite Electrical and stops working within the manufacturer’s warranty period. If the fixture has not exceeded the expected lifetime operating hours documented in its datasheet, has been used in accordance with the user instructions, and has not been subjected to detrimental external effects, it will be replaced at no cost to you.

Responsibility: You are responsible for returning the faulty materials to Definite Electrical. The materials will be uninstalled and reinstalled at no cost if the failure is covered by the warranty. Any work done in diagnosing the fault is also covered by warranty. However, if no fault is found, you will be invoiced for these services at the rates specified on the pricing page.

3. Workmanship Warranty

Quoted Work: The installation work is guaranteed to deliver the results described in your written quote. This warranty is valid for the lifetime of the installation as long as you own the property.

Non-quoted work: For work that is not quoted, and instead billed by the hour, no specific outcome is guaranteed. However, any workmanship issues related to the work are still covered by a 12-month warranty.

Example: A broken circuit breaker is replaced by Definite Electrical, and the work is billed hourly (not quoted). However the electrician fails to attach a cable to the new circuit breaker properly. 6 months later, the terminal overheats and is burnt out. Definite will supply and install a replacement circuit breaker at no charge to you.

4. Pre-existing Conditions Not Covered

Problems caused by pre-existing conditions in your electrical system, even if they become apparent after the installation work, are not covered by the warranty.

Example: If a new safety switch (RCD) is installed on a circuit that didn’t previously have RCD protection, and an existing intermittent fault in the downstream wiring causes the RCD to trip, this problem is due to the pre-existing fault, not the new RCD. Therefore, it is not covered by the warranty, and any necessary troubleshooting or repair will be billed separately.

5. Record Keeping

You don’t need to worry about keeping your proof of purchase or warranty details. Definite Electrical keeps detailed records of all transactions and warranties. If an issue arises, just contact Definite Electrical, and the rest will be handled.

6. Making a Warranty Claim

  • Contact Definite Electrical as soon as you notice any issues with your installation or materials.

7. What is Not Covered

  • Damage caused by misuse, neglect, unauthorized repairs, or modifications.
  • Issues arising from normal wear and tear.
  • Consequential damages or losses not directly related to the work or the materials supplied.

8. No Fault Found

If no fault is found with the installation or materials covered by this warranty, you will be invoiced for any costs incurred, including uninstalling and reinstalling materials, at the rates specified on the pricing page.
